Cambialike is a term used to describe plant tissues that exhibit characteristics similar to the vascular cambium. The vascular cambium is a lateral meristem responsible for secondary growth in plants, producing secondary xylem and secondary phloem, which increase the stem and root diameter. Tissues referred to as cambialike are not true vascular cambium but share some of its key features, such as the potential for cell division and differentiation to contribute to growth or repair.
