Bränsleinsprutning is a fuel delivery system used in internal combustion engines. Instead of a carburetor, it uses injectors to spray fuel directly into the intake manifold or combustion chamber. This precise delivery of fuel allows for better control over the air-fuel mixture, leading to improved engine performance, fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions.

There are two main types of bränsleinsprutning systems: single-point injection (SPI) and multi-point injection (MPI). In SPI systems, a single injector is located in the intake manifold, similar to where a carburetor would be. In MPI systems, each cylinder has its own dedicated injector, providing more accurate fuel delivery to each individual cylinder.

Modern engines predominantly use direct injection (DI), where fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber. This method offers even greater precision and efficiency. The fuel injection system is controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU), which receives data from various sensors (like oxygen sensors, throttle position sensors, and engine speed sensors) to determine the optimal amount of fuel to inject at any given moment. This sophisticated system allows for dynamic adjustments to maintain optimal combustion under varying engine loads and conditions.
