Bolagsstället refers to the principal place of business for a company in Sweden. It is a crucial concept within Swedish company law and dictates where a company is considered to be officially registered and located for legal and administrative purposes. The bolagsställe is typically where the company's board of directors holds its meetings, where official documents are kept, and where correspondence with authorities is directed.

The determination of a company's bolagsställe is important for several reasons. It influences which local tax authority the company falls under, which district court has jurisdiction in case of legal disputes, and where official company registrations are made with the Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket). The bolagsställe must be within Sweden.

A company can only have one bolagsställe. If a company operates from multiple locations, the bolagsställe is generally considered to be the place where the company's central management and administration are effectively located. This is often the registered office address, but it can also be a different location if the actual day-to-day operations and decision-making are conducted elsewhere. Changes to the bolagsställe must be registered with Bolagsverket. The concept is distinct from a branch office (filial) which is an extension of a foreign company operating in Sweden.
