Players start with a grid, usually of several common letter combinations found in Swedish, such as block letters. The game is played by insisting that the next player's words are also available in a normal dataset, usually of just block letters. The players should ensure that every word fits correctly within the limiting circuit.

Each player must ensure that new words are slotted into the existing grid, and no word can overlap. The game ends when no new words can be added to the grid without duplication, with one player left as the winner. The word game is often played with teams, collaborating on the grid.
