Blebbing, also known as zeiosis, is a cellular phenomenon involving the formation of bulbous protrusions on the surface of a cell. These protrusions, termed blebs, are driven by the dynamic remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton and the underlying plasma membrane. Blebbing is a transient process, and the blebs can either retract back into the cell or be released as apoptotic bodies.
The formation of blebs is primarily regulated by the Rho kinase (ROCK) signaling pathway, which promotes the
