Biometrikat is a term used in biometric research and practice to describe the practice of integrating multiple biometric identifiers and related contextual information to verify identity or characterize individuals. Techniques include multimodal fusion at different levels: sensor-level fusion combines raw signals; feature-level fusion merges extracted features; score-level fusion pools match scores; and decision-level fusion makes final determinations from individual classifiers. Data quality and alignment, sensor interoperability, and real-time processing are key considerations.

Applications span security and access control, mobile devices, border and immigration control, healthcare, and forensic science. Biometrikat is often used where high accuracy is essential or where single-modality systems perform poorly due to occlusion, variability, or presentation attacks.

Advantages include increased accuracy, robustness to sensor failures, and improved spoof resistance. Challenges include privacy and consent concerns, potential biases across populations, and risks of large-scale data breaches. Regulatory and ethical frameworks, anonymization, and privacy-preserving techniques such as on-device processing and federated learning are active areas of development.
