bicuspide
Bicuspide refers to a tooth with two cusps. In human dentition, the premolar teeth are commonly referred to as bicuspids because they typically have two pointed projections on their chewing surface. These teeth are located between the canines and the molars in both the upper and lower jaws. The primary function of bicuspids is to assist in grinding and tearing food, bridging the gap between the shearing action of the canines and the crushing action of the molars.
There are two sets of bicuspids in the permanent dentition: the first bicuspids and the second bicuspids.
