Bhoomi is a term from Sanskrit that is widely used in several Indian languages to mean earth or land. In everyday usage it often refers to the soil or terrain, and it appears in place names, literature, and cultural expressions.

In Hinduism and Indian mythology, Bhoomi (also written Bhūmī or Bhūmā) denotes the personification of the earth and is revered as an earth goddess in various traditions. The concept of Bhoomi is closely linked with fertility, agriculture, and the sustenance of life, and it is invoked in prayers and rituals across regions.

In modern governance, Bhoomi is best known as the name of a land-record digitization project launched by the Government of Karnataka in 2001. The Bhoomi system provides online access to land records, including title deeds, mutation entries, and certified copies, with the aim of simplifying land administration and reducing manual paperwork. The project has inspired similar digital land-record initiatives in other states and periods.

In Indian cinema, Bhoomi is a commonly used film title. The most prominent example is the 2017 Hindi-language drama Bhoomi, directed by Omung Kumar and starring Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari; the story centers on a daughter's assault and a father's pursuit of justice. Several regional films have also adopted the title Bhoomi.

Beyond these uses, Bhoomi is also used as a given name and as a literary and cultural reference to the land. The term’s versatility reflects its central place in language, faith, administration, and storytelling in the Indian context.
