Bensinkomponenter, or gasoline components, refers to the various chemical substances that make up gasoline. The primary components are hydrocarbons, which are organic compounds consisting entirely of hydrogen and carbon atoms. These hydrocarbons are typically derived from crude oil through a refining process.

The most common types of hydrocarbons found in gasoline are alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Alkanes, also known as paraffins, are saturated hydrocarbons with single bonds between carbon atoms, such as butane and octane. Cycloalkanes, or naphthenes, are hydrocarbons with carbon atoms arranged in a ring structure, like cyclohexane. Aromatic hydrocarbons contain at least one benzene ring, a six-carbon ring with alternating double bonds, and include compounds like benzene and toluene.

In addition to hydrocarbons, gasoline contains additives that enhance its performance and properties. These additives can include octane enhancers, such as ethanol or MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether), which are added to increase the fuel's resistance to knocking. Other additives may include detergents to keep the engine clean, anti-corrosion agents to prevent rust, and stabilizers to prevent fuel degradation. The specific blend of hydrocarbons and additives varies depending on the region, season, and intended use of the gasoline.
