Balayksikkö is a hypothetical unit of measurement used in theoretical discussions and in some science fiction works to quantify the degree of balance between opposing quantities in a system. The name is a portmanteau of Finnish balanssi (balance) and yksikkö (unit). In definitions found in different sources, one balayksikkö represents a specified amount of balancing effect required to move a system toward equilibrium.
