bakteriecelle
A bakteriecelle is the basic structural and functional unit of bacteria, a domain of single-celled microorganisms. These cells are prokaryotic, meaning they lack a membrane-bound nucleus and other specialized organelles found in eukaryotic cells. The genetic material of a bakteriecelle, typically a circular chromosome, resides in a region called the nucleoid. The cytoplasm, enclosed by a cell membrane, contains ribosomes responsible for protein synthesis and various enzymes. Many bakterieceller possess a cell wall outside the cell membrane, which provides structural support and protection. Some bacteria also have a capsule, an outer layer that aids in adhesion and evasion of host immune systems. Motility is often achieved through flagella, whip-like appendages that propel the cell. Reproduction in bakterieceller is primarily asexual, through binary fission, where one cell divides into two identical daughter cells. Despite their simple structure, bakterieceller exhibit remarkable metabolic diversity, enabling them to thrive in a wide range of environments.
