ayahs

An ayah (plural ayat or ayahs) means a sign in Arabic. In Islamic usage, an ayah is a verse of the Qur'an. The Qur'an is traditionally organized into 114 surahs (chapters), each containing a number of ayahs. The term ayah also carries a broader sense of divine sign or miracle and can refer to signs in nature, history, or prophecy that point to God’s presence or guidance.
