Attituden is a term used in linguistics and Norwegian-language usage to refer to the definite form of the noun attitude. In Norwegian, attituden denotes a mental or affective stance toward a person, object, idea, or situation, akin to the English “the attitude.” Native Norwegian alternatives exist, notably holdning, but attituden appears in contexts involving loanwords, psychology, sociology, and media discourse.

The form attituden derives from the English loanword attitude, adapted to Norwegian morphology with the definite suffix -en. This pattern is common for anglicized nouns in Norwegian, where the indefinite form is often borrowed unchanged, while the definite form is inflected with -en.

In usage, attituden is employed to discuss attitudes at individual, group, or societal levels, for example, “attituden i landet” (the attitude in the country) or “en positiv attituden” (a positive attitude), though in everyday speech many Norwegians prefer holdning for general sense.
