Ascosporoita is not a widely recognized taxon in contemporary biology. The term appears occasionally in obscure or older literature and does not correspond to a formally described genus or species in major fungal databases. In most current references, ascospores are discussed as the sexual spores of Ascomycota, but the exact label “ascosporoita” is not standard and may reflect a materia­l from historical notes, a misspelling, or a non-taxonomic usage.

Etymology and use of the name are unclear. The form suggests a relationship to ascospores (spores produced in asci within ascomata) with a diminutive or variant suffix, but this construction is not formalized in taxonomic practice. Without a formal description, type material, or a clear circumscription, the term cannot be treated as a valid taxonomic unit.

Taxonomic status. There is no record of ascosporoita as a valid genus or species in authoritative registries such as Index Fungorum or MycoBank.
