aripi

Aripi, plural of aripă, is the Romanian word for wings. The term covers the anatomical wings of birds, bats, insects, and other flying or flight-capable organisms, and is also used metaphorically to signify freedom, ascent, or escape.

Anatomy and function: In birds, wings are modified forelimbs covered with feathers.
