Arbejdsdagen is the Danish term for the portion of the day that is allocated to paid work, as opposed to leisure, family time, or personal duties. In everyday language it refers to the scheduled period during which employees perform their job tasks.

A standard full-time Arbejdsdag commonly lasts about seven and a half to eight hours and is distributed over five days, creating a five-day workweek. Typical hours are around 8:00 to 16:30 or 9:00 to 17:00, with a lunch break. Differences occur by sector, contract, and collective agreements, and many workplaces offer flexible hours, compressed workweeks, or shift-based routines.

Historically the concept emerged with industrialization and the labor movement. Modern Danish labor practice is shaped by collective bargaining and law that regulate working time, rest breaks, vacation, sick leave, and parental leave. The standard weekly hours have been around 37 hours in many sectors, though contracts vary.

Culturally, the Arbejdsdagen influences daily routines, commuting, and family life. The Danish emphasis on work-life balance means many workers value predictable hours, vacation time, and opportunities for home-based or flexible work arrangements.
