apteeker
Apteeker is the Estonian term for a pharmacist, a health professional who dispenses medications, provides drug information, and ensures the safe use of medicines. In contemporary Estonia, apteekers work in community and hospital pharmacies, as well as in pharmaceutical companies. They hold a professional license from the Health Board and may supervise pharmacy technicians, prepare prescriptions, compound sterile preparations, check for drug interactions, and advise customers on dosage, storage, and side effects. The term denotes the licensed practitioner; a pharmacy assistant is not an apteeker.
