apni
Apni is a word found in Hindi and Urdu that functions as a reflexive possessive determiner meaning “one’s own” or “the subject’s own,” depending on context. The form changes with the gender and number of the noun it modifies: apna for masculine or neuter singular, apni for feminine singular, and apne for plural. It is used to indicate possession by the subject of the sentence, as in “apni kitaab” (one’s own book) or “apni gaadi” (one’s own car).
APNI stands for Australian Plant Name Index, a collaborative online database of plant names used in Australia.
