Antitestképződés refers to the process of antibody formation in Hungarian. Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins, are Y-shaped proteins produced by plasma cells, a type of B lymphocyte. Their primary function is to identify and neutralize foreign substances such as pathogenic bacteria and viruses, collectively termed antigens.

The process of antitestképződés is a crucial component of the adaptive immune system. It is typically initiated when an antigen enters the body. B cells, which have unique receptors on their surface capable of recognizing specific antigens, encounter these foreign invaders. Upon binding with an antigen, a B cell becomes activated. This activation often requires help from T helper cells, another type of immune cell.

Once activated, the B cell undergoes proliferation, dividing rapidly to create a large population of identical cells. These cells then differentiate into plasma cells. Plasma cells are specialized antibody-producing factories. They secrete vast quantities of antibodies that are specific to the antigen that triggered the immune response. These antibodies circulate in the blood and lymph.

Antibodies work by binding to antigens in various ways. They can neutralize toxins, opsonize pathogens (making them easier for phagocytic cells to engulf), or activate the complement system, a cascade of proteins that can directly kill microbes. The body can also generate memory B cells during antitestképződés. These memory cells provide long-term immunity, allowing for a faster and stronger antibody response if the same antigen is encountered again in the future.
