ANSSI, the Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d'information, is the French national authority for information systems security. It coordinates state cybersecurity policy, protects government networks and critical infrastructure, and advises both public authorities and the private sector on risk management and resilience.

Created in 2009 to consolidate France's cyber defense efforts, ANSSI operates under the authority of the Prime Minister and works in close relation with the Secretariat-General for Defense and National Security (SGDSN).

Primary responsibilities include securing national information systems, guiding the security of public networks, and leading incident response through CERT-FR, the national computer security incident response team. The agency also conducts vulnerability discovery, risk assessments, and security testing, and it publishes guidance, advisories, and standards.

ANSSI administers security certification programs such as SecNumCert for information systems and products, and it accredits implementations that meet French security requirements. It supports critical infrastructure operators and digital service providers with best practices and statutory compliance.

Internationally, ANSSI participates in European and transatlantic cybersecurity cooperation, including ENISA, EU NIS Directive implementation, and NATO cyber defense initiatives, and it shares threat intelligence and technical expertise with partner agencies. Headquartered in Paris, ANSSI works with researchers, industry, and other government bodies to strengthen France's cyber resilience and incident response capabilities.
