Angledifferential refers to the infinitesimal change in an angle, commonly denoted by dθ. It arises in the calculus of angular coordinates in polar and spherical systems and in differential forms on manifolds with rotational symmetry.

In polar coordinates, consisting of (r, θ), the differential structure includes dr and dθ. The angle differential dθ is dimensionless when θ is measured in radians, and it relates to arc length via the infinitesimal arc length ds ≈ sqrt(dr^2 + (r dθ)^2). Thus, small rotations are captured by dθ, while larger changes accumulate through integration.

A standard transformation illustrates its effect: rotating a point with position (x, y) by a small angle dθ about the origin yields x' ≈ x − y dθ and y' ≈ x dθ + y.
