analgetics
Analgetics, also known as analgesics, are medications used to relieve pain. They are broadly classified into two main categories: non-opioid analgetics and opioid analgetics. Non-opioid analgetics include over-the-counter medications like acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and aspirin. These work by reducing inflammation and blocking pain signals. Acetaminophen is primarily used for mild to moderate pain and fever. NSAIDs are effective for pain, inflammation, and fever, but can cause gastrointestinal side effects.
Opioid analgetics, such as morphine, codeine, and oxycodone, are typically prescribed for moderate to severe pain.
