Aluminium nitrate, also known as aluminium trinitrate, is the inorganic compound with the formula Al(NO₃)₃. It is a white to colorless crystalline solid that readily dissolves in water. The nitrate ion in the molecule grants the compound oxidizing properties that are characteristic of many metal nitrates.

Industrial synthesis of aluminium nitrate typically involves the neutralization of aluminium oxide or aluminium hydroxide with nitric acid. Commercial preparations are often produced by reacting anhydrous aluminium chloride with gaseous nitric acid, yielding anhydrous aluminium nitrate that can be hydrated to produce the common hexahydrate form, Al(NO₃)₃·6H₂O. The dissolved form is frequently used as a catalyst in organic synthesis, for example in the nitration of aromatic compounds, as well as in the preparation of other aluminium salts.

In laboratory settings aluminium nitrate serves as a source of aluminium ions for various analytical procedures, including flame photometry and colorimetric tests that indicate the presence of aluminium. Because of its strong oxidizing nature, it can raise the flammability of combustible materials when present in significant concentrations. Thus, it should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from organic solvents, reducing agents, and acids that can produce hazardous fumes.

Exposures to concentrated solutions or vapour can irritate the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection is recommended during handling. Disposal of aluminium nitrate solutions requires neutralization prior to discharge to avoid environmental contamination and to comply with local hazardous waste regulations.
