Alanyától is a Hungarian grammatical term referring to an ablative construction formed from the noun alany, meaning “subject.” It literally translates to “from the subject” and is used in linguistic analysis and formal writing to denote source or origin of information, material, or statements attributed to a subject. In discussions of syntax and discourse, alanyától helps describe where something comes from in relation to the subject performing an action or providing information.

Formation and function: The base word alany receives the accusative ending -át to form alanyát, after which the ablative suffix -tól is attached, producing alanyától. The phrase functions as a source marker, similar to a prepositional phrase indicating origin or provenance. It is distinct from the agentive marker -által, which marks the agent in passive constructions.
