Aktieägarna are the owners of a company in Sweden. When a company issues shares, individuals or entities who purchase these shares become shareholders, or aktieägare in Swedish. These owners have a stake in the company's profitability and assets, proportional to the number of shares they hold.

The primary rights of aktieägare include the right to vote at the general meeting (bolagsstämma), where significant company decisions are made. They also have a right to any dividends distributed by the company and a claim on the company's assets in case of liquidation. The extent of these rights is determined by the class and number of shares owned.

Aktieägare can be individuals, institutional investors like pension funds or mutual funds, or other companies. Their involvement in the company's operations can range from passive ownership to active participation in decision-making. The collective body of aktieägare exercises their ownership through the general meeting, where they elect the board of directors and approve annual reports. The board is then responsible for the strategic management and oversight of the company's operations.
