The second is the base unit of time in the International System of Units (SI). A minute is equivalent to 60 seconds, and an hour consists of 60 minutes, totaling 3600 seconds. A day is typically defined as 24 hours.

Weeks are composed of seven days. Months are more variable, ranging from 28 to 31 days, with the total number of days in a year influencing the duration of February. A year is generally understood as 365 days, with a leap year occurring every four years to account for the extra fraction of a day, resulting in a 366-day year.

Beyond these standard units, Estonia, like many cultures, also uses broader categories of time such as decades (10 years), centuries (100 years), and millennia (1000 years). The understanding and use of these ajaühikutega are crucial for daily life, scheduling, historical documentation, and scientific measurements.
