Ajamisella is a bacterial genus known from a limited set of environmental isolates. The group has attracted attention because 16S rRNA gene sequences show only distant similarity to named genera, and its higher-level taxonomy has remained unsettled.

Habitat and distribution: Isolates have been recovered from soil, freshwater, and marine samples in multiple regions, suggesting a broad yet uneven distribution in natural environments.

Morphology and physiology: Reports describe varying cell shapes, with some strains described as Gram-negative. Metabolic analyses indicate heterotrophic growth with tolerance to different oxygen conditions, including aerobic and facultatively anaerobic metabolism, though traits can vary among strains and are not uniformly documented.

Genomics and taxonomy: Genome sequences exist for a subset of strains, revealing gene repertoires typical of environmental bacteria. There is not yet a consensus on genus-level boundaries, and Ajamisella is treated as provisional in some classifications pending further data.
