Aikaprioriteetin is a Finnish Marxist theoretical concept developed by the writer and philosopher Juhani Tuomela in the 1970s. The term can be translated to English as "a priori priority" and refers to the idea that material relations of production have a higher priority in understanding societal dynamics compared to other forms of relationships.

Aiakaprioriteetin theory builds upon the groundwork of Eastern European Marxist thought, particularly that of György Lukács, who argued that economic relations form the basis of social relations. However, Tuomela's work diverged from traditional Marxist class struggle theory by emphasizing the role of a priori knowledge in understanding these material relations.

In Tuomela's framework, a priori knowledge refers to knowledge that is not derived from sensory experience, but rather from reasoning about the necessary conditions for social existence. He posits that actors derive their sense of reality and power relations from the way they organize their material relations, rather than from their subjective experiences or class-based identities.

This theoretical perspective aims to challenge the notion that relationships and experiences within society can be understood solely through the lens of class struggle or ideological positions.
