Agrégée is the feminine form of agrégé, a title given in France to individuals who have passed the agrégation, a national competitive examination for recruitment to the highest ranks of the public education system. The exam remains one of the most prestigious qualifications for teachers in France, traditionally associated with senior positions in lycées and in certain higher-education teaching tracks.

The agrégation covers a wide range of subjects, including literature, history, philosophy, languages, mathematics, sciences, and more. The examination is organized by the Ministry of National Education and typically combines written and oral tests in the candidate’s discipline, often including a teaching demonstration or an extended research or synthesis component. Preparation usually requires advanced study beyond the master’s level.

It historically enabled entry into senior teaching roles and, in some disciplines, influenced university teaching pathways as well. The feminine form is used in reference to a woman who has obtained the qualification; the masculine form, agrégé, is used for men.
