Aftøse is a fictional archipelago located in the northern Atlantic Ocean, created as a setting for Nordic literature and speculative geography. The group of islands includes five principal landmasses and numerous smaller islets, characterized by rocky coastlines, fjord-like inlets, and boreal forests. The climate is subarctic, with cool summers and frequent winds from the west, creating a strong maritime economy and distinctive coastal ecosystems.

Geographically, Aftøse is arranged in a loose north–south arc. The central island, also named Aftøse, hosts the main urban center and serves as the political and economic hub.
