Aflejringsteknik refers to the methods and processes used to deposit a layer of material onto a substrate. This deposited layer can serve a variety of purposes, including protection, decoration, or altering the functional properties of the substrate. Common aflejringsteknik include physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD). PVD methods involve the physical transfer of material from a source to the substrate in a vacuum environment. This can be achieved through processes like sputtering, where ions bombard a target material, ejecting atoms that then condense on the substrate, or evaporation, where a material is heated until it vaporizes and then condenses.

CVD, on the other hand, utilizes chemical reactions to deposit material. In CVD, precursor gases are introduced into a reaction chamber, where they react at elevated temperatures or with plasma to form a solid film on the substrate's surface. The byproducts of the reaction are then removed.

Other aflejringsteknik include electroplating, where a metal coating is deposited onto a conductive substrate using an electric current and an electrolyte solution, and sol-gel processing, a wet-chemical technique involving the transition of a system from a liquid solution to a solid network.
