Afgifteprofiel is a term used in Dutch to describe the release profile of a substance from a dosage form or delivery system. It encompasses the rate and the extent to which the substance becomes available at its site of action over time. In pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences, the afgifteprofiel is a key characteristic of controlled-release products and is used to predict therapeutic effectiveness and dosing schedules.

The profile is often described by release kinetics, with common models such as zero-order (constant amount released per time), first-order (proportional to remaining drug), Higuchi (diffusion-controlled from a matrix), and Korsmeyer-Peppas (empirical model for polymeric systems). The resulting curve is typically expressed as cumulative amount released or percentage of dose released as a function of time, and may be linked to plasma concentration-time data to infer bioavailability.
