Adventura is a term found in some Romance-language traditions as an older or variant spelling related to the concept of an adventure or a forthcoming event. Its etymology traces adventura to Latin adventura, a neuter noun from advenire “to come to, happen,” used to denote things that are about to occur or ventures involving risk.

In modern usage, adventura is largely obsolete or regional. Contemporary spelling and usage differ by language: in Italian the standard form is avventura; in Spanish and Portuguese the common form is aventura. The form adventura appears mainly in older manuscripts and in philological discussions to illustrate historical spellings or dialect variation. In some contexts it has appeared as a Latin-labeled term in legal, philosophical, or literary discussions to refer to future possibilities or undertakings rather than a modern sense of a journey or exploration.
