Zylindertanks

Zylindertanks are cylindrical pressure vessels or storage tanks used to hold liquids or gases. They can be fixed or portable, and are commonly installed in industrial facilities, water utilities, and energy sectors. Depending on their purpose, they may operate at atmospheric pressure, moderate pressure, or cryogenic temperatures, and can be designed for vertical or horizontal orientation.

Construction typically uses steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or composite materials. The cylindrical shell is closed by end caps, which may be hemispherical, elliptical, or torispherical. Tanks may include insulation and a protective jacket for temperature control, coatings for corrosion resistance, and fitted access points, venting, pressure relief devices, manifolds, and instrumentation.

Design and regulatory standards depend on location and service. For pressure vessels, common codes include ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) in North America and EN 13445 or EN 14015 in Europe. Large welded storage tanks may follow API 620 or API 650. Regular inspections, non-destructive testing, and hydrostatic or pneumatic tests are used to verify integrity.

Applications range from fuel, chemical, and water storage to process plant feed tanks and cryogenic vessels for LNG or industrial gases. Zylindertanks may be stationary in a facility or trailer-mounted for transport, and are often selected for their modularity and pace of installation.
