Zutritt

Zutritt is a German noun meaning access or entry to a place, facility, or information. It denotes permission to enter or to use something and is widely used in security, administration, and everyday language. The term is derived from zu (to) and treten (to step), capturing the idea of stepping into a space.

In everyday use, Zutritt describes whether a person may enter a given area. Phrases include der Zutritt zu einem Bereich, Zutritt erhalten, and Zutritt verweigern. In signage and policy, common formulations are Zutritt verboten (entry prohibited) or Zutritt nur für berechtigte Personen (access for authorized personnel only).

In security and IT contexts, Zutritt is often regulated by access control systems. Physical Zutritt may be granted through badges, PIN codes, biometrics, key cards, or electronic locks and turnstiles.
