ZnOAc2
ZnOAc2 is the shorthand for zinc acetate, a zinc salt of acetic acid with the formula Zn(OAc)2. In typical samples the compound appears as the anhydrous salt Zn(OAc)2 or as the dihydrate Zn(OAc)2·2H2O. The anhydrous form is a white, crystalline solid that is hygroscopic and dissolves readily in water and many polar organic solvents. The dihydrate form is also common and is slightly less hygroscopic. Zinc acetate can slowly hydrolyze in air to basic zinc acetates, especially under moist conditions.
Preparation of zinc acetate is usually accomplished by neutralizing acetic acid with a zinc oxide, zinc carbonate,
Applications of Zn(OAc)2 are diverse. It is used as a Lewis acid catalyst in organic synthesis, promoting
Safety considerations include its irritant properties; it can irritate skin, eyes, and the respiratory tract. It
