Zielorten

Zielorten is a German term used to denote destination places, i.e., geographic locations that are the intended endpoint of movement, delivery, or travel. The word combines Ziel (goal, target) and Ort (place). In plural form, Zielorten refers to multiple destination locations.

In logistics and supply chain management, Zielorte indicate the final destinations of shipments, such as customer addresses, warehouses, or distribution centers. They may be fixed in a route plan or dynamically assigned based on demand, inventory, or service criteria. Using Zielorten helps organize routing, cost calculation, and service level agreements.

In tourism, transit planning, and mobility studies, Zielorte are the endpoint cities or regions in itineraries and travel demand models. They are used to analyze how demand is distributed across possible destinations and to forecast travel flows.

In data modeling and geographic information systems, Zielorten are represented by coordinates, postal codes, or administrative units. The concept is typically contrasted with Ausgangsorte (origins) or Zwischenorte (transshipment locations) to clarify movement sequences.
