Yu-Gi-Oh! is a popular Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1996 to 2004. The story follows Yugi Mutou, a young boy who solves an ancient puzzle known as the Millennium Puzzle, and in doing so, awakens a gambling addiction alter-ego from his body named Yami Yugi, or the "Pharaoh". The manga's subsequent plot centers on Yugi and his friends as they engage in various challenges, most notably a fictional trading card game called "Magic & Wizards," which forms the basis of the real-world Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.
