Yarsan

Yarsan is a term that can refer to several distinct concepts, primarily a religious community and a former military aircraft.

The Yarsan, also known as Ahl-e Haqq (People of Truth), are a syncretic religious minority primarily found in western Iran and eastern Iraq. Their beliefs are a complex blend of ancient Iranian traditions, Shia Islam, and Sufi mysticism. A central tenet of Yarsan faith is the belief in the transmigration of souls, or reincarnation, and the idea of divine manifestations in human form. They have their own sacred texts and rituals, distinct from mainstream Islamic practices. Historically, the Yarsan have faced persecution and discrimination due to their heterodox beliefs.

In a different context, Yarsan refers to a Soviet-designed twin-engine jet bomber developed in the 1950s. Its NATO reporting name was "Yarsan." This aircraft saw limited service and was not produced in large numbers. Further details regarding its operational history and technical specifications are less widely documented than other contemporary Soviet aircraft. The military Yarsan is largely a historical footnote in aviation.
