YVAan

Yvan is a town in the Varna Province of northeastern Bulgaria. It is situated at 43°39′N 27°35′E, and has a population of approximately 2,460 people. Yvan is part of the town of Vetrino municipality, which was formed by amalgamating the town itself with several villages.

The town's history dates back to the Middle Ages, and its name is believed to derive from Ivan, a Bulgarian saint. Yvan was mentioned in a bulgarian source from the 14th century. Historically it was part of the Bulgarian Empire but later passed under Ottoman rule. The tsardom of bulgaria briefly regained control over the territory in the early 20th century. After World War I and the subsequent end of the Ottoman rule Yvan returned to Bulgaria following World War II.

The town's land is mostly fertile, making it suitable for agriculture. The local economy relies primarily on the production of cereal crops, like wheat and sunflowers, and the breeding of cattle. The proximity to the city of Varna provides additional economic opportunities for the residents.

The nearest city is Veliki Preslav, an important archaeological site and a must-see for visitors who are interested in Bulgaria's unique history and culture. A natural reserve for rare birds is preserved nearby.
