YNP1
YNP1, also known as yeast nucleoporin 1, is a protein found in yeast that plays a critical role in the formation and function of the nuclear pore complex (NPC). The NPC is a large protein structure embedded in the nuclear envelope, which acts as a selective gatekeeper for the transport of molecules between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. YNP1 is a component of the Nup100p family of nucleoporins, characterized by their repetitive phenylalanine-glycine (FG) motifs. These FG repeats are thought to be crucial for mediating the passage of macromolecules through the NPC.
Research on YNP1 has contributed to understanding the intricate assembly and regulation of the NPC. Studies
