Xantoforeja is a term that appears in some informal discussions and speculative writings to denote a yellow pigment–bearing cellular structure. Because the form resembles other pigment-related terms such as xantóforo, some authors treat xantoforeja as a hypothetical or provisional label rather than a fixed scientific term.

In theory, a xantoforeja would be described as a small feature in cells or tissues that contains yellow pigments and participates in coloration, signaling, or UV protection. Potential locations might include epidermal chromatophores, ocular tissues, or connective tissue, depending on the organism and the author. However, because the term lacks a formal description, any proposed function remains speculative.

Etymologically, the word appears to be built from xanto- (yellow) and a suffix resembling -foreja or -fore, echoing the more established xantóforo, and it has not gained independent standing in nomenclature. In practice, when encountered in literature, xantoforeja is often a misspelling or misinterpretation of xantóforo or of a compound term referring to pigment-bearing cells.
