XLIV

XLIV is the Roman numeral for the number 44. It is composed by XL (40) followed by IV (4), using subtractive notation: X placed before L indicates 50 minus 10, and I before V indicates 5 minus 1; the two values are combined to yield 44.

In historical dating, 44 BCE is well known as the year of the assassination of Julius Caesar, an event that had significant political consequences in ancient Rome.
