Wurfspeere
Wurfspeere, or javelins, are a type of spear designed primarily for throwing rather than thrusting. While they share the basic structure of a shaft and a pointed head, their construction and balance are optimized for aerodynamic flight. Historically, wurfspeere were employed as projectile weapons by infantry and cavalry across many cultures and time periods. Their effectiveness lay in their ability to inflict damage from a distance, either through penetration or blunt force impact.
The design of a wurfspeer varied depending on its intended use and the available materials. Early examples
