Wiertniczej

Wiertniczej is a toponymic form used in Polish, most often appearing as part of street names. It is the feminine form used in the locative or genitive case for the adjective wiertnicza, which relates to drilling or the act of drilling (from the root wiert- derived from the verb wiercić, “to drill”). In practice, Wiertniczej appears in contexts such as na Wiertniczej or przy Wiertniczej, where it functions as the inflected name of the street.

In Polish place-naming patterns, stems derived from wiertnic- are used to create toponyms that may reflect historical associations with drilling activities—industrial, construction, or extractive work—or they may be derived from a family name or an older local landmark.
