Wharfedale
Wharfedale is a dale (valley) in the Yorkshire region of England, formed by the course of the River Wharfe and spanning parts of the historic West Riding of Yorkshire as well as modern North and West Yorkshire. The valley runs from the higher dales in the north down toward the towns and farms of the southern reaches, and it includes notable settlements such as Grassington, Ilkley, Otley and Bolton Abbey. The landscape is characterized by limestone hills, open fields and moorland, with a long history of agriculture, transport routes and tourism. The area is popular for walking, cycling and heritage tourism, and features historic estates, villages and country houses that attract visitors to the Wharfe valley and the surrounding countryside.
Wharfedale also refers to a British loudspeaker brand established in the 20th century in the Yorkshire region.
