Westwalls
Westwalls refers to a defensive fortification system constructed by Nazi Germany along its western borders during World War II. Its primary purpose was to defend against an anticipated Allied invasion from the west, particularly after the fall of France. The Westwalls were a complex network of concrete fortifications, including bunkers, anti-tank obstacles, and trenches, stretching for over 600 kilometers from the Dutch border to the Swiss border.
Construction of the Westwalls began in 1938 and continued until the German invasion of Poland in 1939.
