Weathervanes
A weathervane, also known as a wind vane, is an instrument used to indicate the direction of the wind. It typically consists of a freely rotating arm mounted on a vertical rod, with a pointer or directional marker on one end and a larger surface area on the other. The larger surface area, often shaped like an arrow, a rooster, or another decorative motif, catches the wind, causing the arm to pivot and align itself with the wind's direction. The pointer then indicates this direction relative to a fixed point, usually a compass rose or cardinal directions marked on the supporting structure.
