Võrkpallur

Võrkpallur is the Estonian word for a volleyball player. This term refers to an athlete who participates in the sport of volleyball, a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under stipulated rules.

A võrkpallur typically possesses a range of skills essential for the game. These include serving, passing (bumping), setting, attacking (spiking), blocking, and digging. The physical attributes of a võrkpallur often include height, agility, jumping ability, and stamina, as the sport requires quick reflexes and explosive movements.

Võrkpallur can be a professional athlete playing in leagues and international competitions, or an amateur participating in recreational leagues, school teams, or clubs. The sport is played globally, and Estonia has its own national teams and a domestic league system for võrkpallur.

The role of a võrkpallur on the court is diverse. Players might specialize as setters, who are responsible for directing the offense, or as hitters (spikers) who aim to score points by attacking the ball over the net. Defensive specialists, known as liberos, wear a different colored jersey and have specific rules regarding their play. Regardless of their specific role, all võrkpallur work collaboratively to achieve victory.
