Võrgustikus is an Estonian phrase that literally translates to “in the network.” The term is widely used in the domestic context to refer to the interconnectedness of information and communication infrastructures, as well as the social relationships that arise within such systems. In everyday discourse it frequently appears in discussions of internet culture, cyber‑security, and the digital economy, often contrasting the physical world with the virtual space that it extends into.

A 2014 documentary of the same name follows a group of students participating in an online collaborative art project, highlighting the influence of digital media on contemporary creativity. In 2017 the Estonian rock group Vennaskond released an EP titled Võrgustikus, whose lyrics explore themes of connectivity and isolation in the age of social media. The phrase has also appeared in the titles of literary works and magazines that focus on digital humanities.

Academic studies on digital society in Estonia often refer to the concept of Võrgustikus when analysing the country’s position as a leader in e‑government and digital services. The term is frequently cited in policy discussions that aim to strengthen cyber resilience and promote inclusive access to digital resources.
